The client: Howgills Accommodation comprises a character-filled Barn and a group of Apartments located in the stunning landscape of Cumbria & the Yorkshire Dales. On the doorstep of the Lake District, which has just been awarded World Heritage Site status, the accommodation lies at the foot of beautifully unspoiled fells and is free from the usual hustle and bustle of busy crowds and tourists. Walking, cycling, mountain biking are in abundance here.
The brief: To complete a rebrand for a well-established accommodation provider, including logos, signage, website design and development, brand guidelines, and branded merchandise. The key to this project was to use the brand elements to communicate one of the unique selling points of the business – its stunning rural location. From there, I worked on colour palettes to keep the design clean and natural; the colours convey the sense of calm that the accommodation provides.
The logos can be further broken down into pictorial and font elements, providing flexibility across the different signage requirements. The logo pattern has been separated out and applied to the website backgrounds and merchandise. It was also important to develop a branding suite that drew the Apartments and the Barn together but also provided them with their own identity within the business. The accommodation is used by a broad range of tourists and visitors so the designs retain broad appeal to meet the marketing needs of the business. The website is one of the main marketing assets – the intuitive navigational journeys and uncomplicated design reflect the offline branding and provide familiarity without cluttering up the selling space.

Working with Neil from Burnett Design was an absolute pleasure from start to finish and we are delighted with the end product that we have received; inspirational branding, clear branding guidelines, and a user friendly website. Neil listened to the our brief and produced milestones with clear timescales so everyone understood what we were working towards. Neil has always gone the extra mile (once all the work was finished) and continues to be of help whenever he can. We are so glad (relieved!) to have found him as taking a step towards re-branding a company can be a daunting experience. It didn’t feel like that all and the end product (which we have received so much positive feedback about) says it all.
