Wainwright’s Yard
The client: Wainwright’s Yard is one of Kendal’s shopping destinations. It’s cobbled streets and stone walls are filled with a high quality collection of independent shops, big name brands, cafes, restaurants and a cocktail bar.
The brief: To design and develop a bespoke website for shopping destination, Wainwrights’ Yard. This rich collection of shops and eateries are tucked away just off the main high street in Kendal. They have a lot to share, and one of their aims is to raise their profile as a single destination. With this in mind, I developed a website that focusses on custom blog posts.
This set up means that their in-house marketing team can share news, stories and blog type content regularly through a content management system.
This content populates the homepage, so the website feels current and lively. The branding reflects the colour schemes of the Yard – it’s bright and welcoming, whilst being careful not to lose the traditional element of the buildings and who this Yard is named after; famous Lakeland fell walker Alfred Wainwright. The website also has a facility to collect user details for email marketing.
There was a lot of rich content on the old Wainwright’s Yard website, so content migration was also part of this brief.
